France 2 is a French public television channel from the France Télévisions group. It is one of France's key national channels, broadcasting in French and combining news, current affairs, documentaries, culture, entertainment, cinema and sport.
The channel grew out of French television's second channel and has carried the name France 2 since 1992. Its line-up includes national news bulletins, morning and evening magazine programmes, talk shows, reports, live coverage, feature films and large public-service formats.
This makes France 2 a broad public-service channel rather than a narrow thematic service. The schedule changes by day: news, premieres, repeats, sports events and evening programmes move between different slots.
