Detskiy Mir is a Russian children's television channel that began broadcasting on 29 November 1997. It operates in Russian and is built around family viewing, children and teenagers.
The schedule includes cartoons, children's films, series, fairy-tale stories, adventure films and repeat runs of familiar classics. At different stages, the channel relied strongly on Russian and Soviet animation, while foreign animated series later returned to the line-up.
The channel's history is connected with paid satellite television in the late 1990s and a later move toward wider distribution. Its technical path is also visible: from 4:3 SD broadcasting to widescreen SD, and from 2023 to 1080i HD.
Mikhail Volkov is the voice of the channel, and the headquarters are in Moscow. Detskiy Mir is carried through digital terrestrial television, cable, satellite and IPTV/OTT networks of Russian and international operators.
