Russia K is a Russian federal television channel dedicated to culture. The channel traces its history back to 25 August 1997, when it launched under the name "Kultura" (Culture).
Its programming covers history, science, the arts, literature, theatre and classical music, along with documentary series and concert recordings. The channel broadcasts in 576i (SDTV) and 1080i (HDTV) formats.
Russia K is part of VGTRK. Sergey Shumakov is the general director of the channel. The channel is distributed in Russia and is also available in Armenia, Kazakhstan and Belarus via digital terrestrial television, Russian cable networks and satellite providers.
