About Sony Turbo (.Black)
Sony Turbo (.Black) is a Russian cable and satellite channel devoted to action-driven detective series, thrillers and dramas. The channel launched in 2012 as Sony Turbo, stopped broadcasting in 2021 and was replaced by the Black channel.
The channel operates in Russian around the clock and targets men aged 25-49. On air are suspenseful detective series, thrillers and dramas. The Black channel shows films and series from Sony Pictures, supplemented by titles from Paramount, BBC, Universal, Disney, Fremantle, MGM and other global producers.
The channel is subscription-based, has no commercial breaks and broadcasts in SD format. Sony Turbo was owned by Sony Pictures Television Networks, represented by Sony Pictures Television, Media Telecom.
In June 2021, Sony Pictures Television ended the broadcasting of Sony Channel, Sony Turbo and Sony Sci-Fi in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. NMG then launched Red, Black and Sci-Fi in their place. The channel is distributed through satellite, digital terrestrial and cable networks, as well as IPTV/OTT platforms of Russian operators.
