Retro is a Russian film channel devoted to retro films from the Soviet and Russian eras. The channel began broadcasting on 3 May 2005, operates in Russian around the clock across Russia, and has officially used the theme of cinema since 2020.
From 2005 to 2020, Retro was positioned as an entertainment, educational and film channel. Since 2025, it has used the slogan "Here History Comes to Life". Before that, the slogan was "The 20th Century as You Remember It".
On air are films and series from the Soviet and Russian retro eras. The earlier name Retro TV was used from 3 May 2005 to 31 December 2008. Dmitriy Polonskiy and Mikhail Georgiu are the channel voices.
From 3 May 2005 to 2 February 2020, the channel broadcast in 576i 4:3 (SDTV), then switched to 576i 16:9 (SDTV) on 3 February 2020. The channel is owned by AO Telekompaniya STREAM and is distributed through digital terrestrial television, cable and satellite networks, as well as IPTV/OTT platforms of Russian and international operators.
