viju+ Sport HD is the high-definition version of the Russian sports TV channel viju+ Sport, part of the premium viju+ package. The HD version airs in 1080i 16:9 (HDTV) format and follows the programming of the main viju+ Sport channel. The channel operates in Russian around the clock. The channel's slogan can be rendered as "The frantic rhythm of live sport."
The line-up centres on live broadcasts of NHL and NBA matches, sports tournaments of foreign leagues, programmes and highlights from partner American and European sports networks. Since 1 August 2013, ESPN has been the channel's network partner, while before that the channel retransmitted programmes from NASN and ESPN America. The schedule also features daily information broadcasts, analytical studios and thematic cycles for viewers who follow professional sport and highlights from world leagues.
The main channel began broadcasting on 1 November 2006 in Russia and the CIS countries under the name Viasat Sport, and in October 2013 it moved to 1080i 16:9 format. From 1 March 2023, as part of the Viasat rebranding, the channel received the name viju+ Sport. The channel was founded by the Swedish company Modern Times Group and Viasat. The operator of the channel in Russia is ZAO FELISTA, with Vasiliy Solovyev as editor-in-chief. viju+ Sport HD is available in Russia, Belarus, the CIS countries and Georgia through cable, satellite and IPTV/OTT networks of Russian and international operators.
