About Тамыр (Tamyr)

Tamyr is a children’s and youth educational television channel in Bashkir and Russian. It follows a 16-hour broadcast schedule, with an age focus on children from 3 to 12, their parents and teachers.

The line-up includes educational and upbringing cycles, game formats, animated cartoons, learning programmes and stories about the culture of Bashkortostan. Notable projects include the sketch show "Baytus", the children’s media project "Gora novostey" (Mountain of News) and "Gorodok AYUYA" (AYUYA Town), which introduces children to the Bashkir alphabet and pronunciation through play.

Tamyr’s history goes back to the children’s programme "Sengeldak" (Cradle), first aired on Bashkir television on 2 March 1992. The idea came from Luiza Farkhshatova, who also became the first head of the studio. On 2 December 2010, the children’s studio of the BST channel became the independent Tamyr TV channel. The project has won the international children’s television festival "Vklyuchaysya!" (Get Involved!) several times and continues to focus on native language, family, elders, nature and the culture of Bashkortostan.
