About BBC World News

BBC World News is an international English-language pay-TV news channel. The channel launched on 11 March 1991 under the name BBC World Service Television and was aimed at audiences outside Europe. On 21 April 2008, it adopted its current name BBC World News.

BBC World News covers international news and analysis. Recurring projects include "World Business Report". The channel's slogan is "Putting News First". Broadcasting has been in HD format (1080i 16:9) since 5 August 2013.

The channel is owned by BBC Global News Ltd., a subsidiary of BBC Studios. Since 3 April 2023, BBC World News programming has been merged with the British BBC News channel. BBC World News is available via cable and satellite networks of operators in different countries, as well as IPTV/OTT platforms.
