About Звезда (Zvezda)

Zvezda is a Russian federal television channel with a civic and patriotic focus. The channel went on air on 20 February 2005, and has been broadcasting around the clock since 9 May 2005.

Its programming combines feature films and documentaries, programmes about the Russian Armed Forces, talk shows, popular science and current-affairs projects. The channel runs under the slogan "Arming with Knowledge".

The channel is owned by the state TV and radio company "Zvezda" of the Russian Armed Forces. Zvezda broadcasts in 576i (SDTV) and 1080i (HDTV) formats and is available via digital terrestrial television, Russian cable networks and satellite providers.
