About National Geographic

National Geographic is an international factual TV channel about science, nature, culture, history and discoveries. Broadcasting began in September 1997 across the United Kingdom, Europe (except Germany) and Australia, and reached Asia in July 1998, replacing NBC Asia on the Star TV network.

National Geographic shows popular-science films and series. Recurring shows include "One Strange Rock", "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" and "The Story of God with Morgan Freeman". Broadcasting is in HD format.

The channel is owned by National Geographic Global Networks, a division of Disney Entertainment and National Geographic Partners, a joint venture of The Walt Disney Company (73%) and the National Geographic Society (27%). Since a 2016 rebrand, it has used the name National Geographic. In Russia, distribution is handled by the OOO NatGeo Russia subsidiary. National Geographic is available through Russian and international cable and satellite networks, as well as IPTV/OTT platforms.
