About History
History is an American TV channel dedicated to historical and entertainment programming. The channel was launched on 1 January 1995. Originally, the channel focused on history-based and popular-science documentaries as well as the news.
During the 2000s, the schedule shifted toward reality television and programmes about ancient civilizations. Recurring shows include "Ancient Aliens", "Pawn Stars", "The Curse of Oak Island", "Forged in Fire", "Mountain Men" and "Swamp People".
The channel is owned by the A+E Global Media joint venture (Hearst Communications and Disney Entertainment Television). The original slogan of the channel reads "Where the past comes alive". History is available through cable networks and satellite providers of Russian and international operators.
