About RT
RT [DE] is the German-language branch of the Russian international television channel RT, formerly known as Russia Today. It broadcasts in German and covers international affairs, politics and public issues for the German-language media space.
The schedule includes news, information and analysis programmes, political talk shows, documentaries about history, culture and international events, reports from different countries and German-language projects by RT journalists. The channel also carries material about Russian culture and public life.
The main RT channel was founded in Russia in 2005 as Russia Today, and the German-language branch began work in 2014. The network is owned by the autonomous non-profit organisation TV-Novosti. In the European Union, RT distribution has been restricted by sanctions since March 2022.
