About Arirang

Arirang is an international television channel from South Korea, focused on news, business, sport and contemporary Korean affairs. The project was established in 1996 by the South Korean government, and regular broadcasting began on 3 February 1997 under the motto "Korea for the World, the World for Korea".

The channel runs around the clock and combines news, analysis, business, sport and programmes about contemporary Korea. Recurring titles include "Arirang News", "Arirang World", "Arirang Sports M", "Biz Today" and "Korea Today".

Arirang combines a news format with a cultural-information view of the country. The channel is owned by the Korea International Broadcasting Foundation. Arirang broadcasts in 1080i 16:9 and operates internationally in seven languages, including English, Chinese, Spanish and Arabic. Its reach includes 188 countries through cable and satellite networks.
