Cartoon Network is the Russian version of the American animated TV channel Cartoon Network, with children's and family animation. Cartoon Network first launched in the United States on 1 October 1992. In Russia, the channel began broadcasting on 1 November 1999 in Russian.
The schedule featured cartoons from the Warner Bros., MGM and Hanna-Barbera studios, original Cartoon Network animated series and feature-length animated films. In 2006, the "Cartoon Network Cinema" block was launched, screening feature animated films, and in June 2009 the "CN Real" block was launched with programmes such as "The Othersiders", "Survive This", "BrainRush", "Destroy Build Destroy", "Dude, What", "Bobb'e Says" and "Happen".
At night, the channel airs the Adult Swim block with more mature animation formats. The channel broadcasts without advertising breaks and uses the slogan "Oh my God!". From 1999 to 2016 the channel broadcast in SD 576i 16:9 format, and on 19 December 2016 it switched to HD 1080i 16:9 (HDTV). Oleg Miroshnikov was the voice of the channel in 1996-1997, 1999-2006 and 2009-2010. The channel is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. Cartoon Network is available through digital terrestrial television, cable networks and satellite providers of Russian and international operators.
