About РТР Планета (RTR Planeta)
RTR Planeta is an all-Russian state international television channel of VGTRK (All-Russia State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company). It launched on 1 July 2002, with the first transmission relayed via the Ekspress-3A satellite. Since 2022, RTR Planeta has been available in 720i 16:9 (HDTV) format.
The line-up centres on films, series and animated films from the Soyuzmultfilm, Ukranimafilm and TO Ekran studios, alongside news and current-affairs programming. Its slogan is "All the Best from Russia".
The launch was announced by VGTRK general director Oleg Dobrodeyev. RTR Planeta is available through satellite providers across Russia and abroad, as well as on cable networks of international providers.
