About Первый канал (Channel One)

Channel One [RU+4] is a time-zone version of Channel One Russia, with the schedule shifted four hours from Moscow time. It follows the same broadcast day for eastern Russian regions, where news, evening programmes, series and major shows appear closer to local time.

Channel One programming includes the daily news bulletins "Vremya" (Time) and "Novosti" (News), current-affairs programmes, films, entertainment shows and sports broadcasts. The slogan "Always in First Place" remains part of the channel's public image. The base channel has been on air since 1 April 1995 and ran under the name Public Russian Television, or ORT, until September 2002.

Konstantin Ernst is the general director, while Alexander Fayfman serves as general producer and deputy general director. Shareholders include VTB, Rosimushchestvo and National Media Group. In the [RU+4] TV guide, the four-hour shift is especially visible in news editions, evening programmes, premiere shows, sports broadcasts and repeats.
