5 Kanal [RU+4] is a time-zone version of the Russian federal channel 5 Kanal, with the schedule shifted four hours from Moscow time. It follows the same broadcast day for eastern Russian regions, where news, documentaries and detective-series premieres appear closer to local time.
5 Kanal programming includes news and documentary programmes, detective series, feature films and thematic cycles. Regular projects include "Izvestiya" (News), "Izvestiya. Glavnoye" (News. Main Stories) and "Sled" (Trace). The history of 5 Kanal goes back to 1938, when experimental television broadcasting began in Leningrad. In its current federal form, the channel has been on air since 1 October 2006, belongs to National Media Group and broadcasts in 1080i 16:9 HD format.
The [RU+4] version moves the same editions four hours forward. The TV guide shows that shift in news, documentary blocks, evening detective series, film screenings and repeats.
