The main ZDF channel began broadcasting on 1 April 1963 as West Germany's second nationwide public TV channel. Its HD version launched on 12 February 2010 in time for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. ZDF HD is available through cable, satellite, digital terrestrial and IPTV/OTT networks that support the HD feed.
