Sat 1 HD is the HD version of the German private television channel Sat 1. The base channel began broadcasting on 1 January 1984 and received the Sat 1 name in January 1985.
It belongs to ProSiebenSat 1 Media SE and works as a general entertainment broadcaster in German. The schedule includes Sat 1 Nachrichten news, series, films, game and entertainment shows, daytime formats, special editions and evening programmes.
One of the channel's historically recognizable formats is Glücksrad, while the slogan "Colour your life" supports Sat 1's light entertainment image. Sat 1 HD broadcasts in 1080i and keeps the editorial profile of the standard channel.
