KIKA HD is the HD version of the German public children's channel KiKA. The HD feed uses 1080i 16:9 (HDTV) and follows the schedule of Kinderkanal von ARD und ZDF.
KiKA brings together animated series, educational programmes, nature and animal shows, the children's news programme logo!, games, learning strands, family formats and international animation. The channel carries no advertising, in line with the German public-broadcasting model for children's television.
The main KiKA channel began broadcasting on 1 January 1997 as a joint project of ARD and ZDF and became Germany's first public children's channel. The channel is based in Erfurt. KIKA HD is available through cable, satellite, digital terrestrial and IPTV/OTT networks that support the HD feed.
