About 3sat HD
3sat HD is the HD version of the German-language cultural and educational channel 3sat. The HD feed uses 1080i 16:9 (HDTV) and follows the schedule of the main channel.
3sat brings together documentaries, cultural programmes, auteur cinema, concerts, theatre projects, literature, science, history, politics and public debate. Kulturzeit, documentary strands and intellectual talk formats are among the channel's recognisable features.
The main 3sat channel began broadcasting on 1 December 1984 as a joint project of public broadcasters from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It operates with ZDF, ORF, SRG SSR and ARD involved in the consortium. 3sat HD is available through cable, satellite, digital terrestrial and IPTV/OTT networks that carry the HD feed.
