About National Geographic HD
National Geographic HD is the German-language HD version of National Geographic. The HD feed uses 1080i 16:9 (HDTV), with programming built around science, nature, history, travel and documentary storytelling.
The schedule includes documentaries and series about wildlife, oceans, geology, archaeology, space, ecology, climate and ancient civilisations. The channel also features projects about National Geographic photographers, journalists and explorers.
The National Geographic television channel launched on 7 January 2001 as a television extension of the media and exploration tradition of the National Geographic Society, founded in 1888. The channel is part of The Walt Disney Company portfolio. National Geographic HD is available through cable, satellite and IPTV/OTT networks that support the HD feed.
