History HD is the HD version of the American television channel History, built around historical and entertainment programming. The channel broadcasts in 1080i 16:9 (HDTV) format and follows the main channel's line-up.
The schedule combines reality formats with series about ancient civilizations, history, craft, expeditions and popular myths. Recurring shows include "Ancient Aliens", "Pawn Stars", "The Curse of Oak Island", "Forged in Fire", "Mountain Men" and "Swamp People".
The main History channel launched on 1 January 1995. It is owned by A+E Global Media, a joint venture of Hearst Communications and Disney Entertainment Television. The original slogan is "Where the past comes alive". History HD is distributed through cable networks and satellite providers of Russian and international operators that support HD reception.
