About ORF 1 HD
ORF 1 HD is the HD version of the first channel of Austria's public broadcaster ORF, Österreichischer Rundfunk. The channel broadcasts in 1080i 16:9 (HDTV), runs in German and keeps the entertainment profile of the main ORF 1 service.
The schedule includes feature films, series, entertainment shows, sports coverage, cooking formats, talk shows and selected factual programmes. ORF 1 is especially visible through sport, including Austrian football, Alpine skiing, winter sports and major international tournaments.
The main ORF 1 channel traces its history to Austria's first public television channel, which began broadcasting on 1 August 1955. It is operated by ORF and remains part of Austrian public television. ORF 1 HD follows the same editorial schedule in HD format and is distributed through digital terrestrial television, cable, satellite and IPTV/OTT networks.
