About ORF 2 HD
ORF 2 HD is the HD version of the second channel of Austria's public broadcaster ORF, Österreichischer Rundfunk. The channel broadcasts in 1080i 16:9 (HDTV), runs in German and keeps the information and culture profile of the main ORF 2 service.
The schedule includes Zeit im Bild (ZIB) news bulletins, current-affairs programmes, documentary strands about Austrian history and culture, regional programmes from the federal states, films, series, cultural and educational formats. ORF 2 is clearly distinct from ORF 1: it gives more space to news, regional life, documentaries and public affairs.
The main ORF 2 channel began broadcasting on 11 September 1961 and became Austria's second public television channel. It is operated by ORF and remains part of Austrian public television. ORF 2 HD follows the same editorial schedule in HD format and is distributed through digital terrestrial television, cable, satellite and IPTV/OTT networks.
