TF1 is one of France's main national television channels. The modern brand began broadcasting on 6 January 1975, and after privatization on 16 April 1987 the channel came under the control of the Bouygues group and became the central asset of TF1 Group.
The schedule includes Journal de 13 heures and Journal de 20 heures news, series, films, entertainment shows, major television events, premieres, repeats and special editions. TF1 operates around the clock and combines national news coverage with mainstream French entertainment.
TF1's brand communication emphasizes positive emotions and the channel's role in French family and mainstream television. Rodolphe Belmer is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TF1 Group. News, films, series, shows and major television events are especially visible in the evening schedule.
