Channel 5 is a British nationwide free-to-air television channel and the fifth terrestrial broadcaster in the United Kingdom. It began broadcasting on 30 March 1997 and became the base of the Channel 5 family, which includes 5 USA, 5star, 5Action and other thematic channels.
