About Al Jazeera

Al Jazeera [UK] is the UK feed of Al Jazeera English, an international news channel launched on 15 November 2006. The channel is the English-language service of the Al Jazeera network and is built around news, reporting and documentary programming for a global audience.

Before launch, the project was planned under the name Al Jazeera International, but it became Al Jazeera English shortly before going on air. The channel broadcasts around the clock and combines news bulletins, analysis, interviews, documentaries and programmes on international politics, economics, society and regions that are often underrepresented in mainstream Western coverage.

Al Jazeera English is part of Al Jazeera Media Network. Its headquarters are in Doha, with editorial bureaux including London and Washington. News bulletins, documentary blocks, repeats and special coverage alternate throughout the broadcast day.
