Sarafan is a Russian entertainment TV channel dedicated to humour and comedy programming. The channel began test broadcasting on 15 October 2007 in Russian and operates around the clock.
Programming centres on classics of Russian humour, sketch shows, stand-up concerts and short comedy blocks between programmes. Regular projects on the channel include "Gorodok", "Petrosyan-shou" (Petrosyan Show), "Krivoye zerkalo" (The Crooked Mirror), "Smekhopanorama" (Laugh Panorama) and others. The channel uses the slogan "Sarafan. Sdelayem vam smeshno!" (We'll make you laugh!) and keeps a wholesome comedy-television tone for different age groups.
The channel was originally created in 2007 by the RTTV media holding as a tourism-oriented TV channel. In May 2011, after being acquired by the VGTRK holding, it changed its concept to entertainment. The channel is owned by AO Tsifrovoye Televideniye (Digital Television). Sarafan is available through cable networks and satellite providers of Russian and international operators in Russia and CIS countries.
