About STV HD

STV HD is the high-definition version of STV, the Scottish commercial television channel and regional ITV partner for Scotland. The channel broadcasts in 1080i 16:9 (HDTV), runs in English and keeps a distinct Scottish regional identity within the UK Channel 3 system.

The schedule includes STV News, local programmes about Scotland and its regions, cultural formats, sports reviews and ITV network programmes: news, series, films, entertainment shows, sports coverage and talk shows. STV's key role is to combine the national ITV schedule with its own Scottish news and regional programming.

STV traces its history to Scottish Television, which began broadcasting on 31 August 1957. The channel is owned by STV Group plc and remains a separate Scottish brand within the ITV regions. STV HD presents the regional service in high definition and is distributed through digital terrestrial television, cable, satellite and IPTV/OTT networks.
