About Mezzo

Mezzo is a French television channel for classical music, jazz, musical folklore and ballet. The channel operates mostly in French around the clock and is associated with academic music, concert recordings and the performing arts.

Mezzo presents four genre blocks: opera, ballet (Dance), classical music concerts (Classic) and jazz. The music programmes are mostly drawn from broadcast recordings of previous years, captured during live concerts, festivals and opera productions on world stages.

Since 2003, the channel has used the slogan "Écouter, voir, oser" (Listen, watch, dare). Themed blocks of concert, opera and archive recordings alternate throughout the day. The focus is on performance, the stage, the orchestra and the atmosphere of live music.

Mezzo was founded in 1992 under the name France Supervision and received the name Mezzo in 1998. In April 2002, Mezzo and Muzzik merged. On 1 January 2026, the channel ceased broadcasting in the territory of the Russian Federation. Until then, Mezzo was available through Russian cable and satellite television operators, as well as IPTV/OTT platforms.
